USA Fair 2008, 31 October - 2 November 2008, Royal Paragon Hall 3, Siam Paragon
The USA Fair 2008 is just around the corner! Due to increased demand, AMCHAM has opened up ten additional booths. Don’t miss this opportunity to market your U.S. products to over 30,000 Thai and expatriate consumers. For more information on exhibiting, click here.

AMCHAM was proud to participate in the USA Fair 2008 Press Conference on Monday at Siam Paragon. Participants were joined by model and actress Methinee Kingpayome (Lookgade), this year’s USA Fair Ambassador. Khun Lookgade was born in the U.S. and is an excellent representation of the best both countries have to offer. Also on hand was “Mr. Fair Bear,” the official mascot of the USA Fair 2008. Keep Your Company Safe During The Software Piracy Crackdown
The Business Software Association (BSA) is launching a software piracy crackdown on the business community, starting on October 15th. The crackdown will begin with nationwide enforcement actions against companies accused of breaking software copyright laws. Companies will not know they have been targeted until the enforcement authorities arrive on the premises. In order to take steps to safeguard your business please visit www.stop.in.th or www.bsa.org for resources to help guide executives and IT managers through the process of ensuring that the Thai copyright laws are being followed.

Statement Regarding Current Political Situation in Thailand
U.S. Business Up and Running – U.S. businesses in Thailand are operating as usual and are experiencing no disruption to power, electricity or labor supply. The protests in Thailand are limited to a small area of Bangkok and are having little to no effect on the daily lives of the majority of those living or traveling in Bangkok. Areas outside of Bangkok are, in general, free of protests and are open for travel. “Businesses, investors, and visitors to Thailand can be reassured that the current political unrest in Thailand should not adversely affect their activities. Thailand remains a compelling primary tourist destination, has a vibrant economy and continues to offer attractive opportunities for foreign investors,” remarks AMCHAM President Thomas J. White.

As always, when traveling abroad American citizens should consult the U.S. State Department website at www.travel.state.gov for further information regarding travel to that country. At this point, the U.S. State Department has not issued a travel warning regarding travel to Thailand.
